“Alphabet Soup”
Hi there! How are you? It’s so nice to see you here!
“IEP, 504, BIP/BSP, OHI/ADHD, ASD, ABA, LD, PLOP/PLEP, FAPE, ESY, IDEA…”
Have you ever found yourself searching for what exactly all of those letters and numbers mean when reading your child’s IEP (Individualized Education Plan)?
Within this ever expanding digital age we’re in, I often find myself searching for information to everything from:
“What’s the weather tomorrow?”
“What is the average age range for a baby to walk” to
“Can my dog eat pineapple?”
(as one of my kiddos throws pineapple from their plate to the floor for our dog.)
I find too, that many families I work with are doing the same, searching for information from soups to nuts. It can be exhausting and quite honestly hard to remember everything you look up sometimes.
If you have been searching high and low to learn just what all those letters, acronyms and words mean to better understand the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) your child has, we’ll get the full scoop together!
Let’s dive into the world of special education together and breakdown all of the jargon.
Let’s learn what goes into an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and more!
With a bachelors degree in special education, a masters degree in special education with a concentration in autism and a post-masters (sixth year) degree in applied behavior analysis, I want to share all of this knowledge and information I know and learned with you - right here!
So what will we discuss?
-
The foundations of the IEP that makes the plan individualized for your child.
-
What are they and what exactly is the difference?
