Routines for Neurodivergent Learners & Families (Quarter 1)
Hi there! How are you? It’s so nice to see you here!
I hope you enjoyed the holiday season with your family as much as I did!
We’ve taken some time away to focus on family here and refocus our mission for the year ahead. Over the last 6 months, we’ve outlined many different topics, described them in detail and provided a library of sorts for a variety of topics from academics to behavior principles.
Now - it’s time to put these principles and topics into action. Are you ready?
Our format will remain the same with content both here on the blog and also on Instagram. However, instead of weekly blog posts, blog posts will now occur quarterly and monthly. We’ll have quarterly “spoonfuls” and monthly “deep dives” where we will provide the teaching and action steps on that quarter’s topic so you can easily recreate the same thing for your learner.
My mission at Coffee Mugs & Clipboards has always been to provide you and your family with sustainable strategies & supports from academics to behavior. Be it you’re in a period of waiting for outside services or you’re just wanting to learn as much as you can without overflowing your already full cup, this is the space for you. I see you - your time is limited, the waitlists are long, and you just want to get things “brewing.”
Let’s collaborate and build those sustainable supports, one cup at a time!
What can you expect on the blog?
During Quarter 1 (January - March 2025) we will be discussing routines. What better way to start a New Year than looking at our routines.
Each month we’ll go into topics such as creating sustainable routines for your learner, how to implement the routines you put together (or already have) and more importantly how to maintain the routines you have (because we all know how easy it is to start something, but it’s never easy to maintain.)
All blog posts will be shared at 8 PM on the 1st Monday of the month
(with the exception of January which will be the 2nd Monday)
Quarter 1 Content Topic Summaries
JANUARY
This month on the blog we’ll be sharing the importance of creating those routines. More specifically, busting the misconceptions, the difference a routine could make, where to start and how it could look for you.
FEBRUARY
During this month we’ll be focusing our discussion on establishing and implementing those routines; this all depends largely on where you and your family are with routines at home. We’ll break down building a routine step by step with how to introduce a routine, ways to practice a routine and monitoring how the routine is going along with the types of support your learner may need.
MARCH
Our last month in this quarter will have us focusing on maintaining. I’ve heard the common statement that January 10th is “Quitters Day” after the New Years Resolutions have worn off. While we don’t have a “Quitters Day” here, there is always the question of “Ok, I have a routine, we’re practicing but how do I make this sustainable?” We’ll go over signs it isn’t sticking, how to adjust what isn’t working and how to reintroduce any new adjustments you may make.
What can you expect on Instagram?
Our Instagram feed may look a bit different too as we’re now going to be giving bite sized video content through Instagram Reels and Instagram Stories with plenty of examples and step-by-step tools. Think of it as a “Mini Coffee Break” with strategies on the go, similar to grabbing your favorite drink from the drive thru; quick and to the point!
So be sure to follow along on Instagram @coffeemugsandclipboards as we bring this quarter’s content to life!
